I ordered these in large for my husband who normally wears size 36 . They were very tight and he would not have been able to do any really vigorous activity in them. However, I kept them to wear...I am 5'7' and weigh 133 lbs and they fit me. The legs are baggier than I would normally wear, but the waist band and length are great for me. The tiny pocket in front is worthless and there are no other pockets, there is a nice inner liner. I would say definitely size up!
